3 Stars promoted to majors

SALT LAKE CITY -- Snow flurries and wind-chill temperatures in the teens forced the postponement of Thursday night's scheduled game between the Stars and the Salt Lake Buzz.
The teams will try again today at 5:15 p.m. at Franklin Covey Field with Will Cunnane pitching for Las Vegas against Salt Lake's Scott Randall.
Meanwhile, three Las Vegas players didn't even have time to unpack their bags before catching flights to San Diego to join the Padres.
Starting pitcher Stan Spencer (4-0, 1.27) was called up by the Padres and is expected to start Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Also headed to the big club are right-handed relievers Matt Whiteside and Brandon Kolb.
