UNLV seeks grads of historic campus
UNLV is seeking graduates of the Las Vegas Grammar School, popularly known as the Fifth Street School.
Graduates of the school, which educated a generation of Las Vegans from 1936 until its conversion to a courthouse in the 1960s, are asked to call Dick Benoit at 895-3076 to be added to an alumni list the university is compiling.
Students will once again fill classrooms at the school this summer, when UNLV begins offering credit and noncredit classes there in remodeled classrooms. For more information on classes to be offered at the facility, call 895-3076.
Financial aid workshops set
The Community College of Southern Nevada is continuing its financial aid workshops.
Designed to help students fund their college education, the workshops explain scholarships, grants, loans and work study programs.

Southern Nevada gets planning help
The Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition received a $250,000 federal Environmental Protection Agency grant to apply state-of-the-art planning tools to protect the Las Vegas Valley's environment as the population continues to grow.
The EPA's grant to the coalition was one of only 15 large Sustainable Development Challenge Grants selected from nearly 1,000 proposals submitted nationwide, EPA Regional Administrator Felicia Marcus said Monday. Another dozen smaller grants were also awarded.
The local coalition will also receive a new Geographic Information System software tool to analyze environmental impacts under various land uses.
Nevada art
The Medallic Art Company, Ltd., of Dayton is producing the official state of Nevada Wild Horse Medallions and official Nevada silver bars.
The medallions feature two wild horses in a majestic pose on one side and the Great Seal of Nevada on the other side.
