Currently: Laidlaw, who returned to Nevada after two years at Arizona Western Junior College in Yuma, Ariz., has started 42 of 44 games for the Wolf Pack. He boasts a .327 batting average with 13 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBIs from his outfield position. His 89 total bases ranks sixth among all UNR players. During his two seasons in Arizona, the former Desert Shield earned all-conference and all-region honors.
Looking back: An all-league player in high school, Laidlaw finished his senior year with a .400 batting average, 28 doubles and 10 home runs. He has been drafted twice by the Montreal Expos, first in the 43rd round in 1997 and again in the 40th round in 1998. His younger brother, Josh, is playing in his first season with the Florida Marlins organization.
