Rouse Co. profit tops estimates

The parent company of the Howard Hughes Corp., the largest developer in Las Vegas, reported first quarter funds from operations of $63 million or 82 cents per share vs. $58.4 million or 72 cents in the year-ago quarter.
Net earnings for the Rouse Co., Columbia, Md., were $31.4 million or 40 cents, up from $28 million or 34 cents.
Rouse, a nationwide developer, said these results were "excellent," beating Wall Street expectations.
