Letter: Gonzalez family should go home
Wednesday, May 10, 2000 | 9:32 a.m.
Shouldn't the solution be to take the Gonzalez family back to Cuba and let the boy adjust there with all his friends and teachers. Since when has this country, at taxpayer expense, been responsible for citizens from Cuba or any other country for that matter, to solve personal family domestic disputes. The children of this country should be so lucky as to have such a ballyhoo made over them in such a grand manner. Perhaps if the government would intervene for them we would have less children that have died from neglect/child abuse.
In addition, we should not keep the Gonzalez family in the lap of luxury when our senior citizens are not able to get adequate medical care or pay for their prescriptions. Enough of this Gonzalez piffle. Let us start paying attention to our own country and not everybody else's. It's time to send them back and not to bring others from Cuba.
