Letter: Parking for handicapped is a necessity
Friday, May 5, 2000 | 10:12 a.m.
In answer to Bill Constantine, who thinks he is such an expert on handicapped persons: Those of us who use walkers do so because we are elderly and lose our balance. A fall can mean many weeks of recovery from an accident which breaks our limbs. Many times an injury leads to death.
Our doctors sign a form giving us permission to use the handicapped license. They know our medical history, Mr. Constantine, you don't!
Many drivers use the handicap space when the licensed person is not with them. This is wrong.
So please do not criticize those of us who use walkers or canes and need handicap parking.
