Robert C. Bassett

Robert C. Bassett, 89, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 2, 1911, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He was a lawyer, labor negotiator, publisher of the Milwaukee Sentinel, vice president of the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co. in Milwaukee, founder of Bassett Publishing Co. in Chicago, a member of the board of regents of the University of Wisconsin from 1958-1961, a member of President Nixon's Pay Board and on the board of directors of the National Small Business Association from 1968-1973.

He is survived by three daughters, Jane Quinn of Orlando, Fla., Pamela Welter of Las Vegas and Karen Freeman of Westport, Conn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

Kim Benson

Kim Benson, 40, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 19, 1960, in Pittsburgh. A resident for five years, she was a business manager in the construction industry.

She is survived by one sister, Karen Benson of Seattle; and one brother, Cory Benson of Boston.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way.

The family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2785 E. Desert Inn Road, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Jorge Castillo

Jorge Castillo, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 23, 1912, in Peru. A resident for six years, he was a retired maintenance consultant.

He is survived by his wife, Elba; one son, George Castillo of Las Vegas; three daughters, Dora De Villanueva of Peru, Ines Ayers of San Diego and Susie Parodi of Las Vegas; three brothers, Luis Castillo, Mario Castillo and Ricardo Castillo, and one sister, Rosa Castillo, all of Lima; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Lonnie L. Dobbins

Lonnie L. Dobbins, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for 35 years, he was a kitchen worker.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; 10 daughters, Elizabeth Cross, Latonya Crockett, Angelia Ross, Linda Outlaw, Gwen Dobbins, Virginia Dobbins, Jackie Dobbins, Brenda Dobbins, Sylvia Dobbins and Ramona Brock, and two sons, Joe Lee Brazil and Ronnie Dobbins, all of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today and Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Saturday in Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, 1072 W. Bartlett Ave. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park.

Armin Romeo Flores

Armin Romeo Flores, 26, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 5, 1974, in El Salvador. A resident for one year, he was a retail clerk.

He is survived by his mother, Maria T. Flores Diaz of Las Vegas; and his father, Filadelfo Vivas Escobar of El Salvador.

Visitation will continue until 5 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Walt Genier

Walt Genier, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Glen Falls, N.Y. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired casino floorman and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Roy; three daughters, Sally McEwan, Brenda Buchiamp and Sue Genier, all of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Helen O. Graf

Helen O. Graf, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Maplesville, Ala. A resident for 44 years, she was a retired Sands hotel waitress in the Copa Room from 1957 to 1995.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia "Toni" Luise of Las Vegas; two brothers, Jack Lawhon of Las Vegas and Raymond Lawhon of Camarillo, Calif.; one sister, Jenny Colner of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until noon services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Alberta Joan Green

Alberta Joan Green, 28, of Las Vegas died April 23 in Las Vegas. She was born April 11, 1972, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a hotel guest room attendant.

She is survived by one daughter, Keveanna Lane Green, her mother, Roberta Lynn Green, her father and stepmother, Alvin and Cynthia Blackwell, three sisters, Chivilla Green, OuShawn Green and Tori Blackwell, three brothers, Dematheus Green, Isiah Henry Green and Alberto Green, and her grandparents, Joan and Leon Boyd, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1240 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Norman A. Greenwood

Norman A. Greenwood, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 29, 1921, in Vermont. A resident for 35 years, he was a miner and a World War II Army veteran of the 101st and 82nd Airborne who received the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

He is survived by two sons, Norm Greenwood Jr. and Richard Greenwood Sr.; three daughters, Cathy Gayton, Bonnie Brittingham and Sylvia Rich; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.

Mildred Tinsley Hamilton

Mildred Tinsley Hamilton, 99, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 23, 1900, in Oakley, Idaho. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Fred A. Hamilton of Bountiful, Utah, and Kent Hamilton of Phoenix; and 24 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens.

Walter Hannsz

Walter Hannsz, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born June 18, 1928, in Houston. A resident for 35 years, he was a carpenter for 40 years and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Emelene; one son, John Hannsz of Las Vegas; one brother, John Hannsz of Houston; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

May Haws

May Haws, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1929, in Skull Valley, Ariz. A resident for three years, she was a retired department store manager.

She is survived by two daughters, Beth Jones of Las Vegas and Kathryn Mundine; one son, Landy Sanderson of Las Vegas; one sister, Anna Beth Post of California; two brothers, Robert Ehle of Phoenix and Frank Ehle of California; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Roy Robert Locke

Roy Robert Locke, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 27, 1917, in California. A resident for one year, he was a truck driver and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and two sisters, Ruth Prine of Las Vegas and Lois Stang of Idaho.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Mylo G. Olson

Mylo G. Olson, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 17, 1925, in Ortonville, Minn. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired automobile salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by four sons, Lance Olson of Fridley, Minn., and Kevin Olson, Grant Olson and Mitchell Olson, all of Minneapolis; three daughters, Julie Greiner, Connie Kramer and Gretchen Olson, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Wayne Olson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Gene Olson of Ortonville, Minn.; one sister, Mildred Peterson of Ortonville; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Daniel Peacock

Daniel Peacock, 86, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Laurel Hills, Fla. A resident for 20 years, he was a Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; one son, Kenneth Bragg of Franklin, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ramon Perez

Ramon Perez, 84, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. He was born July 16, 1915, in Mexico. A resident for 36 years, he was a casino employee.

He is survived by two daughters, Basilisa Perez and Socorro Perez, four sons, Trinidad Perez, Jesus Perez, Carlos Perez and Teodoro Perez, all of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Stan Ray

Stan Ray, 74, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Santa Clara, Utah. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired produce manager and partner, a former steward for the Nevada State Horse Racing Commission, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Linda Sorensen of St. George, Utah, and Lisa Bilyeu and Tammy Malich, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Gordon Ray of Las Vegas and Rick Chandler of Fayetteville, N.C.; three sisters, Barbara Brooks and Charmane Frei, both of St. George, Utah, and Mariann Wells of Pine Valley, Utah; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. MDT Saturday in the Santa Clara LDS Ward Chapel. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Shirley C. Richards

Shirley C. Richards, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Henderson. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Milwaukee. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Richards of Wisconsin and Donald Richards and Daniel Richards, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Darlene Terrien of Las Vegas; three sisters, Carol McCarty of Las Vegas, Joyce O'Kray of Wisconsin and Marion Green of California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Gilbert Z. Rodriguez

Gilbert Z. Rodriguez, 26, of Las Vegas died April 18 in Las Vegas. A resident for 10 years, he was born Aug. 25, 1973, in Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Gabriel Rodriguez, his father, Antonio Rodriguez, his mother and stepfather, Humberto and Mary Correa, two brothers, Robert Rodriguez and Antonio Rodriguez, and one sister, Cindy Rodriguez, all of Las Vegas.

Dale Sisco

Dale Sisco, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Pindall, Ark. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired state hospital security guard.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Shirley Jacobs and Debbie Leach, both of Las Vegas; one son, Jim Sisco of Henderson; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday and noon until 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Olive Speidel, 82, of Las Vegas died April 27 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1917, in New Jersey. A resident for 25 years, she was a government census worker.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Stuart of Las Vegas; one son, Stephen Speidel of Eugene, Ore.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services are scheduled 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Eden Vale Cemetery.

Donna Stazer

Donna Stazer, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Pennsylvania. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J.

Salvatore Trifiletti

Salvatore Trifiletti, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 5, 1926, in Italy. A resident for many years, he was a nursery laborer.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Bertolami of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Ohio. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ted Wendel

Ted Wendel, 57, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born May 8, 1942, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was director of human resources for a mining company and former bishop of the 29th Ward of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; four sons, Tony Wendel of Adams, Ore., Todd Wendel of Salt Lake City and Tim Wendel and Tom Wendel, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Zella Wendel of Las Vegas; two brothers, Robert Wells of Bountiful, Utah, and Richard Wells of Tacoma, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Saturday in the Alta and Jones LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

The family suggests donations to the General Missionary Fund of the LDS Church.

Freddie Worthington

Freddie Worthington, 72, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born July 1, 1927, in Panhandle, Texas. A resident for nine years, he was a retired materials manager for a nuclear power plant, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Clark County Genealogical Society, Mountain View Computer Users Group and Sincerity Lodge 132 F&AM in Greenville, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; and two sisters, Norma L. Cummings of Pep, N.M., and Arlisse Weems of Phoenix.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
