Woman killed in collision
A 27-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed Wednesday evening after she tried to make a left turn and drove into the path of an oncoming pickup, Metro Police said.
After stopping at a stop sign on Arville Street at Russell Road, she tried to make a left turn to head east on Russell when her 1990 Honda collided with a westbound 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Stacey Krise-Hill, 37, police said.
The 27-year-old woman died at the scene, and Krise-Hill suffered only minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation, but police say the cause appears to be a failure to yield on the part of the driver of the Honda.
Relative claims office has mold
Las Vegas attorney Thomas Pitaro is being sued by a family member who claims the lawyer rented him an office that is contaminated by mold.
According to the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in District Court, Thomas and Marion Pitaro allowed water to seep into the walls of Anthony Pitaro's office at 815 S. Third St., "creating unreasonable risk and danger."
The mold contamination causes pulmonary disease, the lawsuit states.
According to the Nevada Legal Directory and the Las Vegas phone book, Thomas Pitaro's office is also located at 815 S. Third St.
Beverly Salhanick, who represents Anthony Pitaro, declined to comment on the lawsuit Wednesday afternoon.
Thomas Pitaro also declined to comment.
It is unclear how the Pitaros are related to each other.
