Workshop to offer help in construction
A workshop on how to construct a Web page and put it on the Internet will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
Sponsored by the nonprofit Las Vegas PC Users Group, the workshop will include an overview of how a Web page is put together, vocabulary, design fundamentals, tools for working with the page and much more.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door. For reserved seats, mail check or money order payable to LVPCUG, 1350 E. Flamingo Road, Suite 188, Las Vegas, NV 89119. Tickets will be held at the theater will-call. For more information, call 263-5910.
Workshops planned for caregivers
The Southern Nevada Alzheimer's Association is offering free caregiver workshops.
A representative of Home Instead Senior Care, a provider of in-home care, will discuss "Safety First: Tips for the Home Caregiver" 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
A caregiver resources workshop is scheduled 9-11 a.m. May 25 at the Southern Nevada Alzheimer's Association, 5190 S. Valley View Blvd., Suite 101. Call 248-2770.
Celebration scheduled Sunday at Lorenzi
A Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held 11 a.m. Sunday at Lorenzi Park. The event will be produced by Elmore Sports and co-sponsored by the city of Las Vegas Cultural Division.
The free festival will feature food, crafts, dance and concerts by Hispanic artists. Call 798-8345.
Miniature-car event planned for children
The Kmart Race against Drugs will be hosting a free miniature-car race 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at the Kmart at 2671 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to race a miniature race car in support of the North Las Vegas Police Department's D.A.R.E. Program. Call 633-1808.
Event to feature ice cream social
A children's pottery painting and ice cream social will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway, Henderson.
Participation is open to children 6-12. Enrollment is $14, which includes all-you-can eat ice cream and all necessary pottery painting supplies. Call 435-3814.
Adoption awareness
Nevada Foster Care and Special Needs Adoption will have an awareness meeting 11 a.m.-noon Friday at the Sawyer State Office Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., Room 4401. Call Gerald Robinson at 486-6158.
Safety fair
Clark County Safe Kids Coalition will host interactive safety fairs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays through May. The kick-off will be held at three area Smith's markets, 2211 N. Rampart Blvd., 4600 E. Sunset Road and 4440 N. Rancho Drive. Call 731-8666.
55 Alive driving
Senior Advantage is offering a 55 Alive Driver's Course 8:30-12:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Sutton Terrace, 3185 E. Flamingo Road. Cost is $8. Call 369-7911.
