Robinson tourney spots open

Playing spots are still available for the second annual John Robinson Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament to be held Thursday and Friday at the Anthem and Revere Golf Courses in Henderson.
Marcus Allen, the 1981 Heisman Trophy winner who was recently voted a member of the 2000 Class of the College Football Hall of Fame, tops the star-studded field which also includes former NFL rushing great Eric Dickerson, Ronnie Lott, Jerry West, Keyshawn Johnson, Darrell Russell, Jackie Slater, Ted Hendricks, former UNLV great Ickey Woods, Washington Redskins head coach Norv Turner and ex-UCLA head coach Terry Donahue.
Foursomes are priced at $5,000 while singles are $1,500. Proceeds go to the UNLV football program. For more information, call 895-1626.
* UNLV took a seven-stroke lead over Colorado State after the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championship in Palm Desert, Calif. Scott Lander led the way for the Rebels with a 4-under-par 68 to lead the individual standings. Also breaking par for the Rebels were Jeremy Anderson and Michael Kirk.
