Two Nevadans join national groups

Two Nevada public officials have been named to national groups.
Nevada State Assemblywoman Barbara Cegavske has been appointed to the position of vice chair of the Education Commission of the States, a nonprofit group that helps legislators develop and implement policies to improve the quality of student achievement and learning.
Forty-eight states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands, are members of the organization.
State Controller Kathy Augustine is serving on the Good Housekeeping Women in Government Award Selection Committee.
The 12-member committee met in New York City where Augustine was joined by former Congresswoman Susan Molinari, R-N.Y., and Pat Schroeder, D-Co.
The awards celebrate the achievements of women working in local, state and federal government.
