CARSON CITY -- The first phase of a project to allow the public easier access to state government has been completed.
Using the Internet, residents can now find forms for applying for licenses or registering complaints with more than 100 state agencies and 40 state boards and commissions.
Gov. Kenny Guinn said access to government information is important in today's global economy and wired world.
"SilverSource makes information available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is an important accomplishment in implementing our e-government initiative," Guinn said.
Marlene Lockard, director of the state Department of Information Technology, said Friday more than 1,000 forms can be downloaded. The next step in the project, she said, is allowing the public to file applications or complaints over the Internet. No timetable has been set.
In addition, all state departments have established websites to provide information about their agencies, Lockard said.
