Two Las Vegas malls to receive defibrillators

Friday, March 31, 2000 | 11:13 a.m.

General Growth Properties Inc., owner of Las Vegas's Meadows Mall and Boulevard Mall, plans to equip its shopping malls nationwide with heart defibrillators.

A defibrillator is an electrical device used to stimulate the heart in the event of a heart attack.

The company is currently awaiting shipment of the devices, and will begin training mall personnel in their usage once they arrive.

The malls will be equipped with Automatic External Defibrillators, notebook-sized devices used to treat victims of sudden cardiac arrest. GGP plans to purchase 290 devices, and will equip each mall property with a minimum of two defibrillators.
