Crash victim had heart attack
A man who crashed his motorcycle in the parking lot of a North Las Vegas hospital earlier this week died from a heart attack, Clark County coroner's office officials said this morning.
Thomas Seaman Jr., 52, drove his motorcycle into a parking lot of Lake Mead Hospital Wednesday about 4:25 a.m., struck a legally parked car and crashed to the ground, North Las Vegas Police said.
An autopsy determined Seaman did not sustain any major injures from the wreck, but died from natural causes, officials said.
Marine killed in training ID'd
A Marine who was killed in a single-vehicle accident during Red Flag exercises at Nellis Air Force Base Wednesday has been identified as Cpl. Jamshid Z. Loredo, from San Antonio.
Officials from Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C., said Loredo was driving in a Humvee with another Marine, Lance Cpl. Sean Ruanova, both stationed in North Carolina, in the afternoon in the northern part of the Nellis ranges.
The cause of the accident is unknown, officials said.
Loredo, of San Antonio, was a stinger missile gunner participating in Red Flag exercises, a training session on the Nellis range. He died on the way to University Medical Center.
Ruanova was treated and released for minor cuts and bruises.
Loredo is survived by his wife, Catherine T. Loredo, also from San Antonio, and two daughters. His parents, Jamshid Heydariha and Cindy Salazar, are also from San Antonio.
Police want help in search for suspect
Metro Police are searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood March 10.
A man attacked the girl with a weapon in a secluded parking lot about 9:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Palm Street, police said.
The suspect was described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 240 pounds with a tanned complexion in his late 20s to early 30s. He had brown hair with red highlights and light-colored eyes. and a thick mustache and goatee. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's sexual assault unit at 229-3421 or Secret Witness 385-5555.
Fire could smolder for week or more
Clark County firefighters responded Thursday to a fire at Western Elite, a recycling company operating on the Clark-Lincoln County border.
"It will probably smolder for a week," county Fire Department spokesman Bob Leinbach said. Sgt. John Wilcock of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said the fire started in a pile of wastes about 4:54 a.m..
