Letter: Entertainment not fit for kids
Friday, March 31, 2000 | 9:49 a.m.
Please take a moment to review my thoughts regarding the possible reasons for some of the problems of our society today.
I took a recent Sunday paper and looked at the movies listed for viewing here in town. I found the following number of movie showings: nine were rated G, 56 were PG, 41 were PG-13 and 149 were rated R.
I then decided to look at the television schedule for Sunday, March 19, between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. (A school night): I found the following:
The guide explains the ratings which are generally very familiar to the public.
I think the entertainment industry would do well to police its product and get back to the basics of family entertainment.
One R-rated movie I saw recently would have been better off rated "XXX." I just avoid movies anymore entirely.
