Guinn names new members to Contractors Board
Thursday, March 30, 2000 | 11:13 a.m.
Gov. Kenny Guinn appointed two new members to the Nevada State Contractors Board.
The appointees include Henderson resident Randy Schaefer, president of R/S Development and former president of the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association.
Also appointed was Margaret Cavin of Reno. Cavin is co-founder of contracting firm J and J Mechanical Inc.
Schaefer and Cavin replace previous board members Dennis Nelson and Jack Lindell, whose three-year terms had expired.
Guinn spokesman Jack Finn said the governor chose to appoint new board members, rather than re-appoint Nelson and Lindell.
At its most recent meeting, the board revoked six Southern Nevada contracting licenses, including the licenses of three Las Vegas-based firms:
A company spokesman could not be reached for comment.
In revoking the licenses, the board alleged substandard workmanship, failure to comply with written warranty, failure to establish financial responsibility, failure to comply with notice to correct and failure to notify board of address change within 30 days.
