Columnist Joe Delaney: Singer Tony Kenny returns in ‘Sentimental Irish’

"Sentimental Irish," first billed as "Ireland's Call," marks the return of Irish singing star Tony Kenny plus other stars of Dublin's cabaret scene, including comedian Joe Curry, legendary musician-composer Dermot O'Brien, dancers Louise Bowden and Enda Donne and the Celtic Rhythm under the direction of Jim Doherty.
Curtain is at 8 p.m., tonight only, in Arizona Charlie's Palace Grand Theatre.
Admission is just $20.
If you've seen the stars of Dublin's Irish cabarets previously, you know how authentic, how enjoyable an evening it can be.
Consider this a real post-St. Patrick's Day treat.
Tonight through Saturday the UNLV Grand Opera Theatre performs Offenbach's comic operetta, "La Perichole," at 7:30 p.m. in UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall.
This is another entertainment bargain with ticket prices of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for UNLV faculty, students and children.

Friday's main event locally is the annual Joe Williams Music Scholarship Fund Raiser Concert at Clark County Community College, featuring blues vocalist legend Ruth Brown with musical director Johnny Pate; Roz Ryan, recently at Mandalay Bay with "Chicago"; Barry Ross, musical director; and the CCSN All-Star Jazz Band conducted by Dr. Richard McGee.
Admission to CCSN's Nicholas Horn Theatre is $25 with all the proceeds going to the Joe Williams Scholarship Fund. ... Please note the 7:30 p.m. starting time. ... Ticket prices are tax-deductible.
Ruth Brown lives in Las Vegas. ... Rhyolite update
The Friends of Rhyolite have resumed the annual Rhyolite Festival, this Friday through Sunday, with tours and special events in Nevada's most famous ghost town. ... Take Highway 95 to Beatty (about a two-hour drive), turn left at the main intersection and it's four more miles to Rhyolite. ... The Friends will host a Members and Descendants Dinner, 6 p.m. Saturday, free in the Beatty senior's center. ... Help keep Rhyolite alive.
Penny France has a hit show at the River Palms in Laughlin, "Diamonds and Pearls." ... There will be a special VIP showing at 9 p.m. Friday in the Crystal Sands showroom. ... Aisling (pronounced Ash-ling) Boyer, daughter of Brendan and Stella Boyer, is featured.
Brendan Boyer, co-founder of the Royal Irish Show Band is currently touring Ireland and England as a solo performer with a special troupe of artists and selling out wherever they're booked.
Stardust update
Wayne Newton closes tonight in the Stardust's Wayne Newton Theater, heads for Hawaii, returning for another extended run on April 17. ... David Clayton Thomas and Blood, Sweat and Tears will perform at the Stardust on Friday and Saturday. ... Also recommended: The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Charleston Heights Center.
