IKE OLEKAIBE
High School: Cimarron-Memorial ('96)
Where is he now: Purdue University
Class: Senior
Sport: Track
Currently: Olekaibe, one of the Boilermakers captains this season, is coming off an indoor season that saw him come up just short of an invitation to NCAAs in the triple jump. He posted team bests in both the triple and long jumps during the 2000 indoor season and helped Purdue to a fifth-place finish in the Big 10. As a junior Olekaibe earned All-American status by jumping 52-5 at the NCAA Indoor Championship -- a personal best for the former Spartan.
Looking back: A dominant varsity performer at Cimarron-Memorial, Olekaibe won a pair of zone titles in the triple jump as a junior and senior and closed out his career with the 1996 4A state triple jump championship. He also captured first place in the triple jump at two prestigious California meets -- the Bishop Amat Invitational and Mt. Sac Relays -- as a senior. His top prep triple jump mark of 50-8 still stands as the Spartans all-time best.
