Savvy wine buy: Paso Robles White Wine ‘98
Wednesday, March 29, 2000 | 9:40 a.m.
Cool ocean breezes and the Rhone varietals Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne combine to produce this truly delicious wine. The wine is a joint effort from the Perrin Brothers of the famed Chateau de Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape, and award-winning American winemaker Robert Haas. Tablas Creek is a food-friendly wine that isn't as heavily scented with oak as a typical Chardonnay, or nearly as buttery. When properly chilled it takes on the character of expensive white Burgundy. Available at Las Vegas Wine Co., $22.29, and Spirits Plus, $23.99.
