Editorial: Home run isn’t likely in this bid

Before anyone lines up to buy tickets, however, this won't be a reality soon -- if ever. The six teams aren't happy with their spring training facilities and likely are using their Las Vegas trip as a bargaining chip. Their none-too-subtle suggestion is that they might relocate here if the Florida Legislature refuses to provide $7.5 million to refurbish their ballparks. The fact that they're discussing moving, because they feel they're not getting enough government help, should raise red flags here. It wouldn't be surprising if they would expect Las Vegas taxpayers -- not themselves -- to pay for the extra facilities they would need to operate here, a prospect certain to dampen enthusiasm.
