Tuskegee Airmen to explore the world

The local chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen will hold its Explore the World of Aviation program to introduce kids to flight Saturday at the Jean Airport, 20 south of Las Vegas. Members of the club will take youngsters with signed permission slips on flights in private airplanes. Registration is required. Call 314-8369 or e-mail Lynhazel@prodigy.net.

Minority publishing event to be held

The National Association of Hispanic Publications is holding its 15th annual convention Thursday through Saturday at the Monte Carlo hotel-casino. Cost is $300 for nonmembers, $250 for members. Call 649-8553 for more information.

LV lawyers raise bar for charities

The Community Service Committee of the Clark County Bar Association is sponsoring an infant supply drive for Baby Find, a program that provides clothing, formula, diapers and other baby necessities to low-income or homeless families. Baby Find, a program of the Clark County Health District and MASH Village, also provides home visits and prenatal care to unwed teenage moms. Items can be dropped off at the bar association offices, 530 S. Ninth St., near Bonneville Avenue. The drive ends May 1. Call 387-6011.

Roth to speak on dance as art

Kelly Roth, artistic director of the dance program at the Community College of Southern Nevada, will speak on "Dance as an Art Form" 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Salvation Army Center fellowship hall, 2900 Palomino Lane. Call 435-3557.

Ex-gangsters try to keep love alive

"Keeping Love Alive" is the theme for the Spring Banquet sponsored by the True Vine, a group that provides alternatives to gang involvement, drug and alcohol abuse and dropping out of school., 6 p.m. Saturday at the H and H Restaurant, 910 Martin Luther King Blvd. Tickets are $25. Parks and Rec to hold seminars

The city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a "Healthy Back Workshop" 10:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Participation is $15. Call 435-3814.

The city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and FUNN Divers are co-hosting a SCUBA Awareness Olympics 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Lorin L. Williams Indoor Pool, 500 Palo Verde Drive, Henderson. Cost is $20 donation per person or $5 per Discover SCUBA participant. Proceeds from the inaugural event will benefit Henderson Safe House, a facility committed to stopping abuse and violence in families.

Library presents 'Salud En Accion'

"Salud En Accion," a program on preventing cancer among Hispanics, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive. Women's Health Connection, Clark County Health District, Baylor College of Medicine and North Las Vegas Library are sponsoring a health program for Hispanic women over 40. Gardeners prepare for 'Tomfoolery'

The eighth annual Flower Show "April Tomfoolery" will be presented by the Sunset Garden Club 12:30-5 p.m. Saturday at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson. Exhibits in design and horticulture will be featured. This show is free and open to the public.
