Las Vegas businessman to head nonprofit

Milt Doyle, a local businessman for 27 years who ran for the County Commission last fall, was recently appointed to the board of directors for Opportunity Village. Doyle, formerly of Prudential Insurance, currently runs Milt Doyle and Associates. In addition to serving on the board of Opportunity Village, he serves on the Whitney Town Board, the Community Development Block Grant Committee and the Marketing and Tourism Committee for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.

Opportunity Village is a nonprofit organization that provides employment and job training to people with mental retardation.

Meridian, friends to hold health fair

Senior Friends and the Meridian will offer a spring health fair for seniors 8 a.m.-noon Thursday at 250 E. Flamingo Road. Screenings include glaucoma/vision, hearing, blood pressure, fitness analysis, massage therapy and dental. Demonstrations will be given on cosmetic surgery and fitness boxing. Pneumonia and tetanus shots will be available and a blood drive conducted. Boxed lunches will be provided on a first come-first served basis at 11:30 a.m. Call 735-5510.

Health expert to give a free presentation

Dr. Kam Yuen, an international practitioner of Chinese medicine and an American chiropractor, will hold a free presentation 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lohan School of Shaolin Kung Fu, 5150 Spring Mountain Road.

Yuen will explain Chinese energetic medicine by demonstrating how a small change in energy and physiology can eliminate pain, such as headaches, arthritis, disc herniation, lower back pain, whiplash, carpal tunnel and digestion. Call (800) 738-2241.

Parker named to missing children's clearinghouse

CARSON CITY -- Stephanie Parker, a legal researcher in the Las Vegas office of the state attorney general, has been named crime prevention coordinator in the Missing Children Clearinghouse and Crime Prevention Unit.

The job calls for educating the public on crime prevention, including such things as safety and missing and exploited children.

The appointment to the $36,000 a year job was announced Monday by Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa. Parker succeeds Jo Anne Embry, who was earlier named director of Senior Nevada Advocates on Guard, a project to ferret out fraud in Medicaid.

Immunizations

Health District immunization clinics are open each Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults. The following clinics will be open this week: Wednesday through April 4.

A.D. GUY CLINIC: Boys & Girls Club, N. 817 St., 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday.

FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations are free to anyone who walks in.
