U.S. Magistrate Judge Roger L. Hunt has been nominated to a U.S. District Court judgeship in Nevada by President Clinton.
Hunt has been a U.S. magistrate in Nevada since 1992 and was chosen as a candidate for the district post by Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Hunt, a fourth-generation Nevadan, has served as a senior partner, partner and associate at the law firm of Edwards, Hunt, Hale and Hansen beginning in 1971.
In 1970 he served as a Clark County deputy district attorney. He got his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and his law degree from George Washington University.
Hunt's nomination will now be sent to the Senate for confirmation. The District Court posts pay $136,700 annually.
The other two, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Linda Riegle and Henderson Justice of the Peace Kent Dawson, could still be approved for the other two vacancies.
The judgeships include two that were created by Congress late last year and a third that opened up when Johnnie Rawlinson was nominated for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
