Monday, March 27, 2000 | 10:47 a.m.

The Greenspun Media Group appointed a publisher for its planned new weekly business newspaper, and said it will be called "In Business Las Vegas."

The tabloid-format newspaper is scheduled to debut in early summer and will be available on Fridays with an initial distribution of 12,000.

The publisher is Carolyn Ashford, who served as chief operating officer of American City Business Journals, owner of 35 weekly newspapers. Ashford also launched the Fort Worth (Texas) Business Press and served as publisher for five years.

"We intend to take an aggressive approach to do the very best job possible in covering breaking news, regional developments and the politics of business," said Danny Greenspun, Greenspun Media Group president and vice president of the Las Vegas Sun.

In Business Las Vegas will include a regular feature by Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston.

The publication will include profiles on businesses and business people, in-depth stories on construction and development, columns on health care, law, finance and the high-tech industry and a weekly Top 25 list.

The Greenspun newspaper will compete with the weekly Las Vegas Business Press, which is owned by Arizona-based Wick Communications.
