Mirage chief rumored to be eyeing Beverly Hills

Departing Mirage Resorts Chairman Steve Wynn is looking at business ventures in Los Angeles, a New York gossip columnist wrote Friday.
New York Daily News gossip columnist Mitchell Fink, citing sources close to Wynn, said the casino magnate is currently shopping for a home in Bel Air. These sources say Wynn will soon bid on the Beverly Hills Hotel or the Bel Air Hotel.
Fink's sources acknowledged that Wynn did not have a non-compete pact with MGM Grand's Kirk Kerkorian, and said a re-entry into the Las Vegas market at a property like the Desert Inn was possible.
"But L.A., and a newer life with a very different set of powerbrokers, seems more likely," Fink wrote.
"Rumors have been and will continue to fly," said Mirage Resorts spokesman Alan Feldman. "For the time being, Mr. Wynn is the chairman of Mirage, and is going to see to it that everything runs smoothly until the close of the transaction. After that, he'll announce what his plans are when he's ready."
