Swing into spring at auction in Henderson

The Boys and Girls Club of Henderson is holding its "Swing Into Spring" 21st annual auction 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Henderson Convention Center.

This year's honorary chairperson is Gov. Kenny Guinn. Sponsorships are available and general admission is $100. Call 565-6568.

Horn Theatre presents blues legend Ruth Brown

The 12th annual Joe Williams Memorial Music Scholarship Fund-raiser will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre at the Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 E. Workshop addresses accessing the media

University explores women in the west

LV teen to compete in national competition

A junior at Las Vegas Academy will compete this month in the national Music Teachers National Association Foundation High School Woodwind Competition in Minneapolis.

Sixteen-year-old oboist Nathan Scott Swain is one of seven students from across the country who compete as a finalist. The national winner of the March 26 competition receive $1,000 and will perform at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis.
