The National Conference for Community and Justice has selected five "community heroes" to honor at its annual fund-raising banquet this evening at the Mandalay Bay Resort Islander Ball Room.
The event is one of the largest fund-raisers for the nonprofit organization, formerly called the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The group's mission is to increase tolerance for diverse communities.
This year's honorees are Rep. Morse Arberry Jr., D-Las Vegas; Amy Ayoub, longtime community activist; Tony Alamo, senior vice president of Mandalay Bay Resort Group; Ann T. Lynch, vice president of comunity services at Sunrise Hospital; and Las Vegas attorney John H. Mowbray.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and costs $175 per plate. For more information, call the National Conference for Community and Justice at 387-6225.
