Boy, 16, wounded by cop

A Metro Police officer shot a 16-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon in northeast Las Vegas after the teen tried to run over the officer with a stolen truck, police said.
The shooting of Bryon Angulo was the second officer-involved shooting since Saturday and the sixth this year.
The officer fired several shots about 12:45 p.m. at a sport utility vehicle on Hidden Desert Way near Bonanza Road and Lamb Boulevard. Angulo was wounded in the leg, treated at University Medical Center and released into police custody about 2:10 p.m.
Angulo was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
A man who reported an SUV stolen earlier in the day called police saying it had been seen in the neighborhood. Two officers in a police car located the vehicle around Washington Avenue and tried to pull it over, Capt. Greg Jolley said.
The driver refused to stop and a brief car chase started. The fleeing driver hit several fences and contributed to several minor accidents while trying to elude police, Jolley said.
"He left a path of destruction," Jolley said.
The driver then worked his way to Hidden Desert Way with a patrol car in pursuit. The driver turned his vehicle around and allegedly tried to ram the police car.
The SUV then hit an electrical power box. When two officers got out of the police car to arrest Angulo, the teen tried to run over one of the officers, Jolley said.
The officer closest to the vehicle fired several shots. Angulo then drove up the street to his mother's house and ran inside. Police found a trail of blood leading to the attic. He was found hiding in the attic, Jolley said.
The vehicle is believed to have been stolen late Monday or early Tuesday and was reported missing Tuesday morning. Owner James Aleman said the vehicle was stolen from an apartment complex parking lot around the corner from where the shooting occurred.
The officer involved in the shooting was put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. Metro has a policy of not releasing the names of officers involved in shootings until two days after the incident.
A Metro officer was involved in another shooting incident Saturday.
Officers Samuel Solorio, 23, and Michael Maloof, 29, shot 18-year-old Roy Palmer four times after the teen allegedly pointed a gun at them, police said.
The two officers were called to the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Meikle Lane near Lake Mead and Nellis boulevards Saturday about 2 a.m., responding to a report of man with a gun arguing with a woman.
The officers repeatedly told Palmer to drop the gun. Instead, police said, Palmer raised the gun and pointed at the two officers. Palmer was listed in fair condition this morning.
The only fatality this year in connection with an officer-involved shooting was 23-year-old John Charles O'Banion, who was shot on Feb. 5 after a car and foot chase.
