Clothing drive to benefit Shade Tree
Kaufman & Broad Homes is collecting clothing 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday for The Shade Tree of Southern Nevada and other nonprofit organizations in six states. The clothing drive is part of Kaufman &Broad's first companywide Spring Cleaning event at Kaufman & Broad and Lewis Homes' new home community, the Monaco. Heroes banquet held at Mandalay Bay
The National Conference for Community and Justice will recognize honorees for the annual community Heroes Award Banquet beginning 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino. Tickets for the eighth Community Heroes Dinner are $175.
This year's honorees are Tony Alamo, senior vice president of Mandalay Resort Group; state Assemblyman Morse Arberry Jr., CEO of Sahara Mortgage Corp.; Amy Ayoub, athletic commissioner and owner of Ayoub and Associates; Ann Lynch, vice president of marketing of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children's Hospital; and attorney John Mowbray. Las Vegas holds its own Oscar party
Citizens of Las Vegas can join in the festivities when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stages its 72nd annual Academy Awards Presentation on Sunday by attending Las Vegas' own Academy-sanctioned Oscar Night America party.
Benefiting the Arthritis Foundation of Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Oscar Night celebration will be shown at Caesars Palace, beginning at 4:30 p.m., with an After Glow Reception at Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant following the Academy Awards presentation. Tickets are available through the Arthritis Foundation, 367-1626.

Expert holds talk at mobile home park
The Las Vegas Songwriters Association will have a special pitch and critique session with Guy Marshall from Tutt and Babe Music of Woodland Hills, Calif., at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cabana Mobile Home Park, 5305 E. Twain Ave. Cost for members is $20 and $50 for non-members. Call 223-7255.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, March 22 - 28.
