Carlos Ledon, 22, defeated Brian Soouid 52 percent to 48 percent. His one-year term begins April 12.
Last week's election featured a record turnout of undergraduate voters. The 1,387 voters exceeded by nearly 400 the number last year.
In 1996, Ledon at 19 became the youngest president of the UNR chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He works as an equipment technician for the campus Disability Resource Center, which serves nearly 400 students.
