Body of missing Lake Tahoe girl found

The body of Krystal Steadman was found off of Highway 50, about two miles west of the junction of U.S. 395 near Carson City, sheriff's investigators said.

The little girl was reported missing Sunday afternoon by her mother, Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Lance Modispacher said.

Modispacher said Krystal was playing with friends at the Lake Park apartments on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe when she disappeared.

About 50 people, including law enforcement officers and volunteers, searched the area through the night and into the morning when the girl's body was found.

Details on a suspect were not immediately released.
