LV passenger counts back to double-digit increases

The number of passengers arriving and departing from McCarran International Airport has climbed by a double-digit percentage again.
After modest increases in December and January, airport traffic was up 11.9 percent in February to 2.8 million passengers. That compared with 2.5 million in February 1999. For the first two months of the year, traffic is up 9.4 percent.
February 2000 had one more day in it than February 1999.
The top four airlines serving McCarran reported increases in February over the same month the previous year, paced by No. 1 carrier Southwest Airlines, which served 14.1 percent more passengers, 789,170 in February. Increases also were reported by America West (4 percent), United (0.9 percent) and Delta (7.7 percent).
