Veteran Las Vegas Stars broadcaster Jon Sandler announced his resignation on Wednesday.
Sandler spent the last eight seasons doing both radio and television commentary for the triple-A Pacific Coast League club and also worked in the team's sales and promotions department.
The 1983 Stanford grad said he was quitting his job to concentrate full time on his No. 1 goal, landing a major league baseball announcing position.
"He wants to expand upon his broadcast career and he felt that all the things the team and I asked him to do prevented that," Stars president Don Logan said, adding, "I know there are great things ahead for him."
The team did not announce a successor to Sandler.
