Joseph Edward Blount

Joseph Edward Blount, 59, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Chicago. A resident for 10 years, he was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Renae; three sons, Robert Blount of Pueblo, Colo., Joseph Blount Jr. of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Curtis Liggett of Colorado; two daughters, Carrie Zorrilla of Sedona, Ariz., and Monica Wood of Henderson; one sister, Beverly Cruz of Greeley, Colo.; and 11 grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in the LDS Desert Rose chapel. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Gladiss M. Coon

Gladiss M. Coon, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born March 16, 1921, in Tennessee. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired government equal opportunity specialist.

She is survived by her husband, Nathaniel; two daughters, Letitia Chigovanyika of Berkeley, Calif., and Darlene Zemel of Woodland Hills, Calif.; one son, Wiley Carter of Montgomery, Ala.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Pearline May Coultman

Pearline May Coultman, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 29, 1916, in Kingston, Jamaica. A resident for five years, she was a hospital nurse.

She is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Mouton of Las Vegas; one son, Edmond Coultman, and one brother, Kenneth Hudson, both of New York; one sister, Beryal James Bean of Jamaica; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Martha S. Dean

Martha S. Dean, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 4, 1915, in Indiana. A resident for two years, she was a beautician and owner of Dean's Beauty Salon, a member of the Lady Moose and Eagles.

She is survived by one son, David Dean of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Lucy Del Console

Lucy Del Console, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 12, 1908, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Del Console of Paramus, N.J., and Joseph Del Console of Las Vegas; one daughter, Lucia Ann Sylvester of Maywood, N.J.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Stanley 'Red' Ebeltoft

Stanley 'Red' Ebeltoft, 90, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 30, 1909, in Lake Park, Minn. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired construction company owner.

He is survived by two sons, William Ebeltoft of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Richard Ebeltoft of Tucson; two brothers, Fred Ebeltoft of Dade City, Fla., and Morton Ebeltoft of Baudette, Minn.; one sister, Maxine Sanders of Poulsbo, Wash.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

John W. Ewing Jr.

John W. Ewing Jr., 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired letter carrier, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and a member of the Independent Order of Forresters.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; one son, John W. Ewing III, and one daughter, Alison B. Ragonese, both of Las Vegas; his father, John W. Ewing Sr. of Dayton; one sister, Karen Ewing of Garden Grove, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Gordon William Goforth

Gordon William Goforth, 49, of Stockton, Calif., died Tuesday in a Stockton convalescent hospital. He was born July 29, 1950, in Monterey, Calif. A former Las Vegas resident for more than 13 years, he was a flooring installer.

He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Goforth and Mary Goforth, both of Henderson; and three brothers, Larry Alfred Goforth of St. Charles, Mo., and Brad Goforth and Dwaine Goforth, both of Stockton.

No local services are scheduled. Wallace Martin Funeral Home, Stockton, is handling arrangements.

Willie L. Hughes

Willie L. Hughes, 65, of Las Vegas died March 8 in a local health care center. He was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Belzoni, Miss. A resident for 47 years, he was a bus driver and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; four daughters, Joyce Jones and Tammy Hughes, both of North Las Vegas, Cherriree Hughes of Las Vegas and Bridget Hughes of Phoenix; one son, Nicholas Hughes of California; one brother, Odess Hughes of Belzoni; two sisters, Inez Middleton of San Diego and Tommie Lee Akins of Belzoni; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Aleda D. Kephart

Aleda D. Kephart, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 7, 1909, in Nebraska. A resident for two years, she was a retail saleswoman and a former member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, June Barnes of Las Vegas; one brother, Eugene Russell of California; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Burial will be in California. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Wayne B. Manson

Wayne B. Manson, 82, of Pharr, Texas, died Saturday in a Texas care center. He was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Preston. A former Las Vegas resident from 1953 to 1983, he was a retired comptroller/accountant for Wells Cargo and a member of the Scottish Rite and Zelzah Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; one son, Dr. Wayne Manson of Taylorville, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Mike Zygich, and one brother, Lyle Manson, both of Ely.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

William D. Martinez

William D. Martinez, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 7, 1947, in Detroit. A resident for 28 years, he was a truck driver for Gornowich Sand and Gravel -- the family business -- a two-tour Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by two sons, John R. Martinez and Robert W. Martinez, one daughter, Lisa M. Martinez, his parents, Robert L. and Clara Martinez, and two brothers, Donald L. Martinez and Robert S. Martinez, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Nathan McKenzie

Nathan McKenzie, 18, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1981, in Las Vegas. He was a chef at Durango Lounge.

He is survived by one daughter, Michelle Renee McKenzie, his father and stepmother, Pastor Pete and Ginny McKenzie, his mother and stepfather, Sarah and Dennis Haynes, one brother, Jason McKenzie, two sisters, Aimee McKenzie and Amber McKenzie, and two stepbrothers, Randy Haynes and James Haynes, all of Las Vegas; three stepsisters, Erin Serviss and Amber Joy Apple, both of Nampa, Idaho, and April Barnes of Las Vegas.

Betty Jeanette Murray

Betty Jeanette Murray, 66, of Sandy Valley died Saturday. She was born June 25, 1933, in Greenville, Texas. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Russan Camille Williams of Illinois and Tamara Lee Coon of Nevada; five sons, Russell Carroll Murray, Stanley Charles Murray and James Edward, all of Nevada, Steven Charles Murray of California and Vernon Tracy of Wisconsin; her mother, Inez Thompson of Texas; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ralph L. Phelps

Ralph L. Phelps, 95, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 5, 1905, in Michigan. A resident for three years, he was an engineer for Ford Motor Co.

He is survived by one son, Jim Phelps; one daughter, Nancy Burton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Sue Pong

Sue Pong, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1920, in China. A resident for 48 years, he was a retired hotel chef.

He is survived by one daughter, Eileen Okamoto of Sacramento; three sons, Ray Pong of Denver and Lawrence Pong and Jack Pong, both of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Scott Underwood and Casey Underwood, both of Las Vegas; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Sinforosa Rose Quaderer

Sinforosa Rose Quaderer, 86, of Boulder City died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Santo Domingo Pueblo, N.M. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired housemother in the education field.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Rollins of Rocklin, Calif., and Donna Rose Carboni of Boulder City; one brother, Vidal Aragon of Santo Domingo Pueblo; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will be in Brigham City, Utah. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Linda May Riggs-Higgins

Linda May Riggs-Higgins, 49, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 19, 1950, in Washington. A resident for seven years, she was a registered nurse, a member of the Nursing Association and the Nevada State Nursing Board.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; her parents, David and May Riggs, of Naches, Wash.; and one brother, Kenneth D. Riggs of Port Angeles, Wash.

Brenda A. Sandifer

Brenda A. Sandifer, 54, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1945, in Biloxi, Miss. A resident for 18 years, she was a hotel guest room attendant.

She is survived by three sons, Reginald L. Sandifer and Va Shon L. Sandifer, both of Las Vegas, and Gregory T. Sandifer of North Las Vegas; five sisters, Eucharist Roger of Biloxi, Thelma Sawyer of Hattiesburg, Miss., Vonciel Beard of Los Angeles, Virgina Heidelberg of Chicago and Elaine Serrell of Lincoln, Neb.; four brothers, John Rawls of Las Vegas, George Rawls of Italy, Samuel Rawls of New Jersey and James Burns of Biloxi; and three grandchildren.

Charles W. Sharp Sr.

Charles W. Sharp Sr., 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Illinois. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired plumber for the Chicago city government and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Charles Sharp Jr. of Illinois; one daughter, Mary Carol Sharp of Las Vegas; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Ralph R. Smith, 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1920, in Pennsylvania. A resident for two years, he was a retired police chief and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Marx of Henderson; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leonard Souza, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 15, 1941, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 31 years, he was a musician and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; and three sons, Jerry Souza of Henderson, Frank Marquette of Christ Church, New Zealand, and Lenny Souza of Las Vegas.

Richard George Toft

Richard George Toft, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 12 years, he was a mortgage banker for 25 years, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselor for the Veterans Administration and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Sara Born of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Ellen Stanley of Poway, Calif.; one son, Richard K. Toft of Davis, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 16, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.

Robert Owen Zorn

Robert Owen Zorn, 27, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 22, 1972, in Korea. A resident for several months, he was an auto dealership salesman.

He is survived by his mother, Pung Cha Zorn of Maryland.
