LAKE MEAD: The recent fishing drought appears to be coming to an end as boaters are catching striped bass by downrigging and drifting with bait at depths of about 60 feet.

Anglers who have been trying their luck in the Boulder Basin have found stripers at Pumphouse Cove, Government Wash and Las Vegas Wash. Areas of the Overton Arm that have produced stripers are Fish Island and the Muddy River.

Tilapia, an exotic fish that has become established in the lake, are being caught in coves. They are similar in size, appearance and taste to crappie and there is no limit on the number that can be caught and kept.

LAKE MOHAVE: During the past week the lake's water level has risen by two feet and this inflow of cold water has spoiled the fishing. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is scheduled to stock rainbow trout at Willow Beach today.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: The lake is free of ice and fishing has been slow due to the 40-degree water temperature. Rainbow trout were stocked Wednesday from Lake Mead Hatchery.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: Rainbow trout fishing has been fair and should get better as the Nevada Division of Wildlife stocked the lake Wednesday.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Haymeadow Reservoir has been attracting large numbers of anglers on the weekends and fishing has been fair for rainbow trout. Fishing has been slow for trout at Cold Springs Reservoir.
