Barbara J. Ballinger

Barbara J. Ballinger, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Jackson, Mich. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon; one son, Patrick Ballinger of Las Vegas; three stepsons, Stephen Lodwick of Atlanta, Gary Lodwick of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Randy Lodwick of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Cynthia Lee of Riverside, Calif., and Sharon Roper of Laughlin; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services are scheduled 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm, Eastern. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Cemetery.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119, and/or the Humane Society.

Annamae Bardwell

Annamae Bardwell, 75, of Yerington died Wednesday in a medical center. She was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Collinsville, Okla. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Roy B.; one son, Roy Lee Turk, and one daughter, Sharon Regan, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Roy T. Blair

Roy T. Blair, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Seattle. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired microwave engineer at Centel for 10 years.

He is survived by one son, Steve Blair of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his companion, Carol Brown of Las Vegas; three sisters, Sharon Kuwada of Santa Clara, Calif., Teresa Garrett of Lorton, Va., and Peggy Baschen of Issaquah, Wash.; one brother, Bill Blair of Henderson; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. services Wednesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park Northwest.

The family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

James L. Brewington

James L. Brewington, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Wilson County, Tenn. A resident for four months, he was a retired hospital mechanic and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen; one son, David Brewington of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Linda Merritt of Nashville and Lynn Brumley of Kokomo, Ind.; one brother, Wallace Brewington of Cedar Springs, Mich.; four sisters, Margaret Shahan, Alice Murray, Linda Cripp and Peggy Maynard, all of Lebanon, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Leslie F. Carey

Leslie F. Carey, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired Air Force senior master sergeant and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by four sons, Richard Carey, Leslie Carey, Corrado Carey and Lance Carey, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

John Daniel Coe

John Daniel Coe, 78, of Turlock, Calif., died Saturday in a California convalescent hospital. He was born May 31, 1921, in Draper, Utah. A former Southern Nevada resident, he had been a schoolteacher for 40 years, a former real estate broker, a member of the National Chinese Owl Association, National Pigeon Association, National Teachers Association, Nevada Teachers Association and Order of the Arrow Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Jean A.; two sons, David Coe of California and Harold Coe of Boulder City; three daughters, Linda Tamashird of Las Vegas, Ruth Gilbert of Woodbridge, Va., and April Ruggiero of Novato, Calif.; one brother, Victor Coe of Henderson; three sisters, Zina Alves of Sacramento, Celia Keele of Fallon and Dorothy Stratton of Hurricane, Utah; and eight grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Eaton Family Funeral and Cremation Service, Modesto, Calif., is handling arrangements.

Grant Davis

Grant Davis, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Shelbyville, Ind. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired county assistant coroner and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Theresa Vodicka, one son, Anthony Davis, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Eldon Davis of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Charles B. Erwin

Charles B. Erwin, 87, of Weatherford, Texas, died Wednesday. He was born March 31, 1912, in New Orleans. A former Las Vegas resident from 1990 to 1998, he was a retired postal supervisor and a member of Masonic Lodge 438 in Arlington, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Oleta; three daughters, Joann Place of Fullerton, Calif., Nancy Nilsen of Cypress, Calif., and Linda Muchlstedt of Las Vegas; two sons, Bill Erwin of Lakewood, Calif., and Jim Erwin of Victorville, Calif.;. 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Adella Jane Hanson

Adella Jane Hanson, 76, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 10, 1923, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a retired hotel waitress.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Parks and Robert Parks, and one stepson, Joe Hanson, all of Las Vegas; one stepdaughter, Christine Hanson of Colorado; three sisters, Amelia Winters of Utah and Julianna Brooks and Joyce Von Borstel, both of Arizona; four brothers, Vern Miller and George Miller, both of Utah, and Fred Miller and Calvin Miller, both of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

George Francis Huber

George Francis Huber, 71, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born July 22, 1928, in New York. A resident for six years, he was a manager of a lawn and garden company.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; one son, George Huber of Buffalo, N.Y.; one daughter, Janann Bryant of Henderson; two brothers, Peter Huber and Edward Huber, both of New York; and two sisters, Mary Ann Spence of New York and Rosemary Reiman of Illinois.

Isadore 'Red' Kleinman

Isadore "Red" Kleinman, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1918, in Cincinnati. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired printing company owner and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; one daughter, Barbara Blazer of Cupertino, Calif.; one son, Phillip Kleinman of Spokane, Wash.; three brothers, Harry Kleinman of Los Angeles, Maish Kleinman of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Marvin Kleinman of Cincinnati; one sister, Bernice Bomstein of Dayton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., handled arrangements.

Floyd Mackey

Floyd Mackey, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Hillsboro, Ill. A resident for one year, he was a retired electrician, a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Malkin of Las Vegas; one son, Kenny Mackey of Granite Bay, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Charles A. Maier

Charles A. Maier, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 21, 1916, in New York. A resident for six years, he was a meat cutter and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; two sons, Edward Maier of Las Vegas and Charles Maier of New York; two daughters, Eileen Pantke of Orlando, Fla., and Carolyn Mars of Winter Garden, Fla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Glenn Martin

Glenn Martin, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1935, in Kentucky. A resident for 39 years, he was an upholsterer.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Valerie Martin of Las Vegas and Annette Bartlett of Las Vegas; one brother, James Martin of New Carlisle, Ohio; two sisters, Hazel Brashears of Dayton, Ohio, and Evelyn Haywood of Wallins Creek, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 4-5 p.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Jose Luis Mendoza

Jose Luis Mendoza, 43, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for 18 years, he was a laborer in the construction industry and a member of the Laborers Local 872.

He is survived by his wife, Magdalena; two daughters, Elizabeth Mendoza and Cynthia Mendoza, both of Las Vegas; his father, Ramon Mendoza of El Paso, Texas; three brothers, Arturo of Las Vegas and Mario and Ramon, both of El Paso; and four sisters, Irma, Isela and Esther, all of Las Vegas, and Norma of El Paso.

Services are scheduled 6 p.m. in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St.

Richard V. Noponen

Richard V. Noponen, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired ship captain in the Merchant Marines and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Richard D. Noponen of Hayward, Calif.; one stepson, James Riendeau of Agoura Hills, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Leslie Moore of Mill Valley, Calif., and Karen Hemberger of Irvine, Calif.; one sister, Marci O'Hare of Bedford Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Connie Perry

Connie Perry, 53, of Henderson died Feb. 12 in Las Vegas. She was born May 10, 1946, in Iowa. A longtime resident, she was an apartment complex manager.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Essy of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Evelyn Eileen Shanahan

Evelyn Eileen Shanahan, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Charleston, W.Va. A resident for one year, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Padilla of Las Vegas; two sons, Charles Shanahan of Myrtle Creek, Ore., and Herbert Rex Shanahan of Toledo, Ohio; three brothers, Opie Smith of Charleston, Cecil Smith of London, Ky., and Robert Smith of Myrtle Creek; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carl Shay

Carl Shay, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1923, of Cleveland, Ohio. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired law enforcement officer, a World War II Air Force veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternal Order of Police.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Larry Wisniewski of Oxnard, Calif., and Mark Wisniewski of Cassopolis, Mich.; one brother, Leo Shay of Euclid, Ohio; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; one son, David Brown of East Grand Forks, Minn.; two daughters, Debra Brown of Orange, Calif., and Kathy Holte of Spokane, Wash; two sisters, Jane Grannis of Villa Park, Calif., and Evangeline Fleming of Roanoke, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Edith Sutton, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Washington, Pa. A resident for three years, she was a retired pharmacy clerk.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Stellavato of Las Vegas; one sister, Carol Tuttle of Mars, Pa.; one brother, Ernest Pais of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jose Vigil

Jose Vigil, 81, of Ozark, Ark., died Friday in an Arkansas hospital. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a retired carpenter, a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

He is survived by two sons, James Vigil and Chris Vigil, both of Ozark; six sisters, Lou Haywood of Las Vegas, Ernestine Ruiz of Concord, Calif., Trinnie Herrera and Mary Herrera, both of Pojuaque, N.M., Eliria Montoya of La Mesilla, N.M., and Pita Randolph of San Diego; one brother, Albert Vigil of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

Richard Boyd Wright

Richard Boyd Wright, 31, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born Oct. 23, 1968, in Henderson. A lifelong resident of Southern Nevada, he was an automotive technician.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie; three daughters, Heather Popejoy of Bakersfield, Calif., and Las Vegas, Mirissia Reyes of Boulder City and Jessica Diana Wright of Las Vegas; three sons, Brandon Reyes, Ryan Reyes and Richard Arthur Wright, and his parents, Katherine C. and Arthur G. Wright, all of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Cynthia G. Jenkins of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Sandra D. Wright of Las Vegas.

Beatrice M. Zurko

Beatrice M. Zurko, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born July 20, 1915, in Shenandoah, Pa. A resident for eight years, she was a retired factory seamstress.

She is survived by one son, Michael Zurko of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert Zurko of Fullerton, Calif.; one sister, Patricia Anderson of Apple Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
