SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend man convicted of murdering a man for his casino winnings was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
St. Joseph Circuit Court Judge Jerome Frese imposed the standard term of 55 years for murder and 10 years for robbery in sentencing Abdullah T. Alkhalidi, 28, last week.
The prosecution charged that Alkhalidi was having financial problems and killed Claude Purdiman Jr., 29, for the approximately $2,000 he won while the two were together early May 3 at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City.
