America West Airlines, which has a hub operation at McCarran International Airport, will begin daily nonstop air service between Las Vegas and Hartford, Conn., April 20.
The Phoenix-based carrier will offer overnight round-trip flights to Hartford's Bradley International Airport, the second-busiest airport in New England. Flights will leave Hartford at 9:04 p.m., arriving at McCarran at 11:19 p.m. The flight leaves Las Vegas at 12:33 a.m., arriving at Hartford at 8:15 a.m.
The new flight is an expansion of service and there are no plans to cut flights elsewhere.
America West will use a twin-engine 124-passenger Airbus A319 jet configured with 12 first-class seats for the flights.
America West also is adding one-stop service from Las Vegas to Hartford through its Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio, hubs.
America West joins Southwest Airlines on the Las Vegas-Hartford route. Southwest offers weekly nonstop flights on Saturdays to Hartford and connecting flights to the city the rest of the week.
