Scholarships available to HS seniors
Monday, March 13, 2000 | 10:16 a.m.
More than $75,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 83 Clark County School District high school seniors attending college or other post-secondary programs by the Clark County Public Education Foundation.
The scholarships are awarded through 21 different programs -- academic and athletic as well as others that target specific trade groups and students who have overcome personal challenges or adversities.
Scholarship applications and deadline information are available in high school guidance offices, at the foundation's web site at www.ccpef.org or by calling the foundation at 799-1042.
Since it began in 1995, the foundation's scholarship program has awarded more than $180,000 to 140 Clark County high school graduates.
The scholarships are being coordinated by the Women's Network of the National Conference of State Legislatures -- to which Koivisto belongs -- and is being sponsored by Sprint Corp. They will be awarded based on scholastic achievements, written statements by the applicant, community service involvement and letters of recommendation.
Applications and supporting documentation are due no later than June 20 through Sprint's office at (800) 796-3464, the Jean Nidetch Women's Center at UNLV at 895-4475, or the UNLV Student Financial Services at 895-3424.
For information call 676-2756.
