Missing pilot believed found

A man's burned body was found in the wreckage of a plane Friday afternoon in San Bernardino, Calif., and is believed to be that of a missing pilot who took off from North Las Vegas Airport last week.

A Nevada Civil Air Patrol found the crash site about 4:45 p.m. about 10 miles from the California-Nevada state line near Interstate 15, said Deputy Abe Leal of the San Bernardino County sheriff's office. California officials along with federal investigators went to the crash site.

San Bernardino County coroner officials made a tentative identification, but are waiting for dental records to confirm the man's identity.

The pilot took off March 6 from the airport heading to Chino, Calif. The last radio contact with the plane was made as he was leaving Nevada heading into California, officials said.
