County to simplify zoning, development code
Monday, March 13, 2000 | 10:50 a.m.
Clark County has had an increasingly complicated mix of different rules governing new construction and development for more than 50 years, but county workers promise a new, easier-to-use code is on its way.
The Clark County Comprehensive Planning Department is seeking public input on its draft rewrite of the zoning and development code.
The 600-page draft Unified Development Code is meant to streamline, simplify and consolidate a tangle of rules now contained in Clark County statutes.
The rewrite is the first in the 54 years that the county has had zoning and development rules on the books, Lesa Coder, director of the Current Planning Division, said.
Meetings for the public to get an early view of the proposed code will be held today and March 27 at 7 p.m. in the Clark County Commission chambers in the County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
The planning department also will have open-house sessions on the proposed code revision March 17, 24 and 31, and April 7 and 14. The open-house sessions are from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Current Planning conference room at the government center.
