BASEBALL
Clark 4, Foothill 3: David Ward threw a complete game, giving up two earned runs and striking out seven. Jason Diekmann gave the Chargers the lead with a two-run double in the fourth.
Green Valley 9, Durango 7: Garrett Guzman went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs to give Jake Dittler the win. Chris Kelly went 4-for-4 with four RBI and a home run in the Blazers' losing effort.
Bonanza 7, Chaparral 6: The Bengals scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to notch the opening-day win.
Cimarron-Memorial 5, Las Vegas 5: Spartan Matt Wagner hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Jake Vose to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh before the contest was called on account of darkness.
Palo Verde 13, Valley 3: Erik Newman pitched a five-inning complete game, giving up only two hits for the win. Matt Sweitzer went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI for the Panthers.
Eldorado 7, Cheyenne 1: Chris Hansen struck out 15 batters en route to the complete game one-hitter. Hansen also went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double for the Sundevils.
Bishop Gorman 6, Basic 0: Brandon Boesch threw a complete-game four-hitter to give the Gaels an opening-day victory.
SOFTBALL
Valley 12, Palo Verde 5: Callie Payne got the win with by scattering eight hits over seven innings. The Panthers' Nikki Rose hit the only home run on either side.
Rancho 15, Mojave 0: Rebbeca Monroe threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to give the Rams their first win since 1998. Michelle Coffman went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a home run and Hilary Blackburn went 3-for-4 with four RBI as the Rams racked up 19 hits.
Cimarron-Memorial 10, Las Vegas 0: Jaime Hughes pitched a six-inning, complete-game shutout while striking out five. Victoria Morache went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Silverado 18, Western 1: The Skyhawks allowed only one hit using two pitchers in the rout.
Bonanza 2, Chapparal 1: Bonanza's Christy Carrasco, Katie Kaempfer and Ashley Vose had two doubles apiece as the Bengals outlasted the Cowboys.
Basic at Gorman, postponed.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Gorman def. Silverado, 15-9, 4-15, 8-15, 15-11, 17-15: Will Quinn had 26 kills and Nick Porter had 22 assists to lead the Gaels.
