LV construction company acquired by Atlanta firm

Atlanta-based Beers Construction acquired W.E. O'Neil Construction Co. of Las Vegas.
Craig Johnson, Beers' group vice-president, said the acquisition was not a cash purchase but rather involved Beers' "assumption of O'Neil's liability (in Nevada)." He declined to offer further details of the transaction.
Beers is owned by Skanska USA, a division of construction giant Skanska AB of Sweden. O'Neil's parent company is Chicago-based O'Neil Industries.
An O'Neil Industries spokesman could not be reached for comment.
Johnson said the Las Vegas office will serve as Beers' new regional headquarters as the company prepares to expand into Southern California.
Located at 801 S. Rancho Drive, O'Neil's former Las Vegas office employs about 15 people. Johnson said Beers planned no personnel changes at its local operation.
An established presence in the Southeast, Beers' acquisition means the company inherits all of O'Neil's Las Vegas projects. Johnson said those included a $15 million renovation job at the MGM Grand hotel-casino.
