Plea bargain taken in slashing of boys

A man accused of slashing the throats of two boys last fall has entered a plea agreement that settles the case without his taking responsibility for the acts.
Deputy District Attorney William Koot said Jaramie Dean Womack entered what is called an Alfred Plea in the case Wednesday. Although it is not an admission of guilt, it means that Womack is conceding that prosecutors likely have enough evidence to convict him.
Womack had been scheduled for trial on April 3. He faced charges of attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping of a minor, robbery, burglary, forgery and possession of a credit or debit card without the card holder's consent. The attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery charges all alleged Womack used a deadly weapon during them, thus potentially enhancing his sentence. According to authorities, Womack moved to Las Vegas from Washington to live with his cousin and on Oct. 4, he took a steak knife to the throats of two boys living in the house. He then threw the boys, ages 7 and 13, into a bathroom with their 12-year-old sister and locked them in.
Womack then reportedly ransacked the home and stole two checks belonging to the boys' mother, who is the girlfriend of Womack's cousin. He was also accused of forging a check the day after the attack.
