Services set for man killed in fire
Graveside services for Sam Kloner, the 73-year-old disabled man who was killed in Tuesday's fire at the Cedar Springs Apartment will be 10 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Kloner, a Las Vegas resident of 34 years, was in a wheelchair and could not get out of his downstairs apartment when the flames engulfed the two-story wood-frame building, Clark County Fire officials said.
Also killed in the blaze in an upstairs apartment were Ledeana Williams, 4; her sister Jae Williams, 3; and their 2-year-old brother Eric Williams III. Family members were to meet with officials at Palm Mortuary this morning to make funeral arrangements, a mortuary official said.
Body found at Lake Mead camp
National Park Service Rangers found a Texas man dead in his tent at the Boulder Beach campground on Wednesday morning.
Other campers had reported that they hadn't seen anyone in the camp over the last few days and rangers went to investigate, a Park Service spokesman said.
Law enforcement officials believe there was no foul play in the 61-year-old man's death and the Clark County Coroner is working to determine the exact cause of death.
Man convicted in NLV man's death
A 58-year-old Las Vegas man was convicted by a Clark County jury Wednesday of second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.
The jury deliberated about six hours before deciding that Leroy Thomas Towner shot William Hall, 48, to death last June. His sentencing is scheduled for April 17.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, Hall went to Towner's residence and was shot in the chest upon entering. near Lake Mead and Martin Luther King boulevards on June 18 to collect a debt.
When Hall walked in the front door of the home, police said Towner shot him.
Hearing planned on Silverado rezoning
A public input meeting on proposed one-year plans for Silverado High School rezoning is set for 6 to 8 p.m. March 16 at the school theater, 1650 Silver Hawk Ave.
