United Metal Technologies Inc., a Las Vegas-based metal fabricator, has acquired a California company that supplies Silicon Valley's high-tech businesses.
UMT President David Frohnen said his company has purchased all assets of Peninsula Metal Fabrication, San Jose, Calif. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Frohnen said Peninsula has about $8 million in annual sales.
Peninsula provides several different types of metal processing in addition to traditional sheet metal fabrication and has customer relationships in the semiconductor, telecommunications and computer equipment manufacturing industries.
Frohnen said the acquisition means UMT will have new capabilities to service electronics and gaming companies with plants in Las Vegas, Sacramento and San Jose.
UMT has 80 Las Vegas employees in four factories under three subsidiaries, including American Laser Cutting, BPW Precision Metal Fabrication and Desert Powdercoating and Plating, which produces chrome plating on slot machines. With the addition of Peninsula, the company now has 150 employees.
