Reward increased in guard slayings
Tuesday, March 7, 2000 | 10:50 a.m.
An armored car company has increased the reward to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of the three robbers who killed two guards Friday.
Henderson Police today continued their investigation into the slayings of Ricardo S. Sosa, 47, and Gary Dean Prestidge II, 23, about 11:25 a.m. Friday in front of Ross Dress for Less in a busy shopping center on Stephanie Street.
Capt. Richard Perkins said detectives were following up leads as tips and information about the crime continues to come in.
The two Armored Transport guards were killed by two masked men who emerged from minivans with assault rifles. The robbers made off with three bags of money in a getaway car driven by a third man. The robbers dumped the car off in the parking lot of the Galleria at Sunset mall and fled in a dark-colored minivan.
Henderson Police are reviewing Las Vegas armored car holdups to determine if there are any connections with Friday's deadly heist.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Henderson Police at 565-2009 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
