Letter: Moment too long to leave child
Tuesday, March 7, 2000 | 9:12 a.m.
There are far too many reports assailing us from the tube saying, "I just left (her/him) in the car for a 'minute' while I ran in ..." I would be willing to bet that the parent in each case had a license to drive the carjacked vehicle. I would further assert that the vehicles were, more than likely, licensed and registered to operate in their respective municipalities. As I stated in a letter to the editor a few years back, "If you think you can have a child and forget it, forget it!"
I believe it was the late anthropologist Margaret Mead who said, "There should be two types of licenses: one to marry and the second to have children!"
