‘Jane Roe’ to speak in LV
Tuesday, March 7, 2000 | 9:01 a.m.
The woman whose landmark case Roe vs. Wade established the legal right to an abortion in the U.S. will be speaking in Las Vegas this month.
Norma McCorvey -- "Jane Roe" -- will be the keynote speaker at the 14th Annual Care Net Women's Resource Centers of Southern Nevada fund-raising banquet on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Regent Las Vegas (formerly the Resort at Summerlin).
McCorvey no longer supports abortion rights. Since the U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1973, McCorvey has changed her point of view and now speaks out against abortion as a part of her conservative Christian faith.
The Women's Resource Center provides free pregnancy tests, formula, diapers, infant clothes and peer counseling.
Tickets to the event are $20. For more information, call 366-1247.
