Wounded deputy honored at Snowfest

Bill Doyle was the grand marshal Saturday in the Kings Beach Community Children's Parade, part of the area's Snowfest celebration.
Doyle has been in and out of hospitals since being shot five times here in December 1996 by a man who was later convicted in a string of bank robberies across the West.
Because he earned a law degree while working as a deputy, Doyle had another career to fall back on after the shooting ended his stint as a deputy.
He has been a part-time deputy district attorney at Tahoe for more than a year.
"I'm doing OK. I need one more surgery to replace the knee," he said.
